The Mutti story begins in 1850, when Giovanni Mutti, a forward-thinking farmer, pioneered the use of the sidereal system, which is still employed in organic farming today. In 1899, Giovanni's nephews, Marcellino and Callisto Mutti, founded the Fratelli Mutti company, marking the start of the family's transition from farming to manufacturing.

In 1909, Ugo Mutti designed a process to produce tomato extract, called "conserva nera," a precursor to modern tomato concentrate. This innovation paved the way for Mutti's enduring legacy as a leader in the Italian tomato industry.
