STEP 1: Measure the length of the lid. The Extended Length of the Gas Strut should be approximately 50% of the Length of the Lid. For example, if the length of the lid is 30 inches, you need a 15-inch gas strut.

STEP 2: Weigh the lid. First method: Unscrew the lid from the hinges and use a scale to weigh it. Second method: Move the lid to a 90-degree angle, use a pole and a bathroom scale to weigh it at the mount point, and allow the weight of the lid through the pole to show a reading on the scales in Kg.

STEP 3: Calculate the pressure. For example, if the reading is 20 Kg, 1 Kg = 10 N, so a 20 Kg lid means that (G) equals 200 N. If you are going to use 2 x struts on the lid, you can halve the amount of pressure in each strut. We usually recommend a right-angle bracket on the lid and a flat bracket within the box or frame.

Installation Warm Tips: - Gas Struts are very strong! You can't compress them with your hands. - First, make sure your lid is within the range that the gas struts fit. - Then, open your lid to your preferred angle, find the third of the lid, and identify the upper and lower mounting points. - Close and open your lid to check if it's what you want. - If it's too powerful, you can move the upper mounting point closer to the hinge.

Scope of Application: Suitable for use on leer camper shell windows, truck caps, RV side doors, etc. Note: If the lid weight is less than 32 lbs or more than 45 pounds, please choose other pressure struts.

Tips: Use a pole and a bathroom scale to weigh the position where you will install the air column, usually 30%-50% away from the hinge. This will give you a good weight index, and then choose the right pillar.

Installation: The package contains 2 pillars and 4 ball studs, compatible with 10 mm ball sockets. Do not try to squeeze by hand, otherwise the pillars will be damaged.
